Folly Park overlooks the River Great Ouse and its large grassed recreation area on the banks of the river offer a beautiful spot in which to relax or to participate in the private fishing for keen anglers. Originally an apple orchard, the park has recently been substantially upgraded to become a modern park in a superb riverside location. Folly Park has a wonderful community spirit and the residents are particularly friendly and welcoming.
Folly Park is situated close to the north end of the High Street and benefits from having a general store at the entrance to the park. The High Street boasts a selection of shops and a Sainsbury's supermarket is just two miles away. There are allotments close to the park and the Clapham village hall is the centre of life in the village, hosting such varied events as line dancing and foreign language classes.
There are many walks and public bridleways in the area, as well as museums, art galleries, three golf courses and the famous Woburn Abbey with its attached Safari Park. There are many areas of outstanding natural beauty and attractions, which include stately homes and gardens, woodland walks and nature reserves, country parks and world-famous animal parks.
There is a bus stop at the entrance to the park that provides links to Bedford town and on to other towns and cities in the region. The mainline train station in Bedford provides a direct service to London several times every hour. Luton airport is approximately 25 miles away and provides air links to most of Europe and other destinations.
From Bedford, take the A6 North towards Rushden. Take the second off-ramp (signed Oakley/Clapham) and turn left at the roundabout to head towards Clapham. Take the 2nd exit at the next roundabout to enter Oakley Road. After 100m, Folly Park will be on your right hand side, behind the Spar shop.
